Building Permits

When building or renovating private and commercial property in Legal, you must apply for those permits which apply to your project. Permits are issued from the town office. The permit issuance process can take up to 2 weeks, so please plan ahead and have the proper plans and permits in place before you start your project.

The prices associated with filing a permit varies based on the size and scope of the project. All permits expire after 1 year from issuance and are non-refundable.

Please note that Safety Codes Council has increased their fees to $4.50 per permit issued or 4% of the permit cost, whichever is greater.
